cognovís was founded in 2004 by Malte Sussdorff to meet the grown demands of agencies and other organizations for professional support in project management solutions. Based on the toolkit ]project-open[ cognovís has successfully helped organizations from consulting companies to larger service companies fulfill their project management needs in areas ranging from timesheet and expenses to full featured Project Management Office support.
 
In 2009 cognovís started to build up expertise in Drupal and CiviCRM with a focus non for profit organizations. Together with partners in India and Poland cognovís has successfully delivered a membership and event management system for a non profit, adding Knowledge Management based on OpenAtrium.
 
Since 2010 cognovís is a heavy user of the GIT subversion system and follows many of the best practices of distributed software development. We also maintain the GIT repository of ]project-open[.
 
The name cognovís comes from the greek word "cognos" (awareness) as well the the latin words "novus" (new) and "vis" (strength). It emphasizes our goal to present a new strength for knowledge through our tools and consulting methods.
